Derek Yang is HAFA’s Facilities Manager. Originally from California, Derek moved to Minnesota in 2025, embracing the new opportunities the state offered. His roots are grounded in over 15 years of working with his family on their farm, where he learned resilience, teamwork, and a deep respect for the farming community.
In Sacramento, Derek worked in Environmental Services at UC Davis Health. The meaningful interactions he had with patients and staff showed him the impact of giving back and supporting others. Today, Eric brings that same spirit to HAFA—continuously learning, seeking new challenges, and taking pride in the leap of faith that brought him to Minnesota.

We are dedicated to advancing the prosperity of Hmong farmers through cooperative endeavors, capacity building and advocacy. HAFA was started and is led by family farmers. Organizing is in our DNA.
