Building Our Local Food Community
Farming is in our DNA
In 2011, a group of Hmong American farming families formed the Hmong American Farmers Association (HAFA) because we believed the best people to support Hmong farmers are Hmong farmers themselves and that we are all lifted up when those who are affected by an unfair food system lead the change we seek.
We formed with the mission to advance the prosperity of Hmong American farmers through cooperative endeavors, capacity building and advocacy.

Happy Thursday! Our Farm and AMP team has officially transitioned over to the farm! But we have more good news!At the beginning of this year, HAFA obtained a multi-tiller equipment! This will, indefinitely, be a time saver and labor cost reducer. Not only that, but it'll also help preserve a more vibrant and healthy soil ecosystem through efficient cultivation, weeding, fertilization and renovation to the soil. This way farmers can better manage their fields and work towards sustainable farming practices! We couldn't have done this without the Lakewinds Food Co-op and their Community Giving Round Up Program! Thank you for supporting HAFA and the local Hmong farming community! 💚#local #hmong #Farming #sustainablefarming #lakewindsfoodcoop #communitygiving
HAFA is partnering with some of Minnesota’s small Hmong owned businesses to support the growth of their establishments and our farmers. HAFA will be conducting a raffle of multiple amazing items over the next few weeks to connect you with our Hmong Community and encourage you to support our farmers and small businesses.Supporting local Hmong businesses is not only a way to bolster the local economy, but also to empower and uplift the Hmong community. By actively choosing to patronize Hmong-owned establishments, you are contributing to their growth and success, ultimately fostering a sense of community pride and solidarity. Supporting Hmong businesses also helps preserve cultural heritage and traditions, as many of these enterprises offer unique products and services that reflect the rich history and customs of the Hmong people. By investing in these businesses, you are not only supporting entrepreneurship within the Hmong community, but also creating opportunities for economic prosperity and social advancement.Supporting our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program is a vital step towards promoting sustainable farming practices and fostering a stronger sense of community. By participating in HAFAs CSA program, you are directly supporting our local Hmong American farmers and ensuring the longevity of small-scale, environmentally conscious agriculture. Our farmers use sustainable farming practices, which are not only better for the environment but also produce healthier, more nutrient-dense food. Supporting CSA is not just about buying local produce; it is about investing in a healthier, more sustainable future for ourselves and for future generations. We want to grow our CSA program to help foster a sense of community and connection among our members and come together to share recipes, cooking tips, and stories about you and also our Hmong heritage.Raffle rules:- You must purchase one of HAFAs CSA vegetable shares in order for your name to be added into the raffle- You can purchase as many shares as you’d like and your name will be added in for as many shares as you purchase but you can only win once- The raffle is only open to orders placed on Monday, 4/8 through Sunday, 4/14.- Winners and prizes will be randomly selected. - Winners will be announced on our Facebook, Instagram, Newsletter, and personally emailed.Find more information about our CSA program on our website! www.hmongfarmers.com/csa/Union Hmong Kitchen Diane's Place RedGreen Rivers
